I help through connecting with where you are emotionally starting at our first interaction, and I continue to keep your emotions at the center of how I am going to help get you to the next level. I understand your perspective on the “why and how” without judgment. I seek to provide an out-of-the-box approach to counseling services. I have a passion for working with women of color and have experience working in higher education and providing therapy to graduate students and undergraduate students. I operate in a strengths-based capacity to ensure optimum skill acquisition to promote your ability to thrive in the world. Ultimately, my goal is to shine the light on your strengths and gifts so that you can do it for yourself.
I have been practicing for over 15 years in the mental health field with both children, adolescents and adults who have been identified with mild to severe, persistent mental illnesses. I have also worked in medical, hospice, and college settings. I previously taught Human Service courses at University of Phoenix and worked in Michigan State University’s CAPS program providing crisis intervention, short-term therapy, trainings, and facilitated Graduate Minority Women’s groups. I have facilitated trainings throughout Michigan on Mental Health First Aid, as well as other mental health topics. I continue to provide mentorship to MSW students at Michigan State University as a Field Liaison, and provide clinical and macro supervision to LLMSWs.
