“Unless our thinking changes, nothing will.”
My approach to therapy is first, to have unconditional positive regard for everyone. It takes guts to reach out so I honor that. Second, I cannot work harder than those with whom I work. Third, I don’t believe in the “T” word – TRY. Either do or do not. I believe that assisting people in applying the concepts of counseling into actions and developing a different approach to life’s problems is where quality of life improves.
I have been in the professional counseling field for over 30 years. I have worked with most populations specifically, those with a co-occurring disorder – both substance abuse (co-dependency) and mental illness. I have worked with groups, individuals, couples and families. This includes adult children of dysfunctional family systems. As a veteran myself, I also work with former military. I have also worked with adjudicated consumers with a court order or on probation or parole.
