August 13, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Overview:

This training will address how to identify, treat and support individuals with eating disorders with attention to the diverse populations who experience eating disorders, impacts of weight stigma, and systemic barriers to accessing treatment. Clinical vignettes will be presented to highlight common presentations that should raise suspicion of eating disorders in clients who do not disclose their struggle with food, body image or exercise. The training will review contributing factors to eating disorder development, the most common medical complications of eating disorders, the most effective treatment methods, and practical therapeutic interventions and techniques. Finally, the presenter will explain how to identify when a client needs a higher level of care, coordination of care strategies, and how to reduce barriers for clients to pursue higher levels of care.
